One glow stick. Endless darkness. And something waiting in the shadows.
Back by popular demand… LIGHTS OUT returns to The Dent Schoolhouse on Saturday, November 7, 2026! But this year, something sinister has taken control of the darkness.
Welcome to Mr. Shady’s Nightmare!
For one night only, experience Cincinnati’s legendary haunted schoolhouse like never before. Almost every light inside the attraction will be turned OFF, leaving you to navigate the twisted hallways, classrooms, and terrifying scenes with only a single glow stick to guide your group.
And don’t think the darkness means the monsters have gone home. Quite the opposite!
Enter Mr. Shady’s Nightmare
For our 2026 Lights Out event, the mysterious Mr. Shady has something special planned.
He’s been lurking in the shadows all season, but now the darkness belongs to him.
As you make your way through the schoolhouse, familiar scenes become unfamiliar nightmares. Every corner hides a new surprise, every sound feels closer, and every shadow could be hiding something that doesn’t want you to leave.
Can you survive the schoolhouse when you can barely see what’s coming?
There’s only one way to find out.
Things to Know Before You Come
Are ALL the lights turned off?
Almost! The majority of the attraction will be plunged into darkness. However, stairwells and other areas requiring lighting for guest safety will remain illuminated.
Are there still live actors inside?
YES! In fact, Lights Out traditionally features more live actors inside the schoolhouse than any other Dent event! With limited visibility, the monsters have a serious advantage. You’ll hear them, feel their presence, and sometimes encounter them before you even know they’re there.
Are the props and animatronics still operating?
YES! All of our terrifying animations and special effects are still running. The difference? You’ll be experiencing them in near-total darkness, making the schoolhouse feel completely different from our regular season.
Do we really only get ONE glow stick?
YES! Each group receives one glow stick to help navigate the darkness. You’ll have to work together to find your way through the schoolhouse. Just remember… the monsters can see that glow stick, too!
Does Lights Out get busy?
YES! Lights Out has become one of our most popular special events. We recommend arriving early to help avoid longer lines. Fast Pass tickets are also available for guests who want to reduce their wait.
Will the Monster Midway be open?
YES! The Monster Midway will be open with its usual attractions, games, and photo opportunities. Make sure to explore everything outside the schoolhouse before or after your nightmare!
One Night Only — Saturday, November 7!
This is your chance to experience The Dent Schoolhouse in an entirely different way as we continue celebrating 30 Seasons of Screams!
