Meet Mr. Shady: A New Shadow Falls Over The Dent Schoolhouse
He’ll promise you the moon… and a pocket of maybes.
For 30 seasons, strange things have called The Dent Schoolhouse home.
Some have been hiding in classrooms. Others have lurked in the basement. And a few have become legends in their own right.
But this fall, a new face is stepping out of the fog.
His name is Mr. Shady.
Meet Mr. Shady
At first glance, Mr. Shady seems like an awfully charming fellow.
You’ll recognize him by his old suit, long gray hair, crooked smile and the fog that has a peculiar habit of following him wherever he goes.
He may tip his hat.
He may offer a friendly word.
He might even offer you exactly what you’ve been wishing for.
Whatever you do, don’t make a deal with him.
There are old warnings about men like Mr. Shady. Warnings passed quietly from parents to children when the lights went out at night.
Never trust the crooked smile.
Never accept what he offers.
And always watch the shadow.
Because Mr. Shady’s shadow doesn’t always behave like a shadow should.
Something Darker Follows
Where Mr. Shady walks, darkness seems to follow.
Sometimes his shadow stretches a little too far.
Sometimes it moves in ways that he doesn’t.
And sometimes, if the light catches him just right, what appears behind Mr. Shady looks considerably less human than the smiling gentleman standing in front of you.
Perhaps it’s only a trick of the light.
Perhaps it’s the fog.
Or perhaps the old warnings were right.
Those foolish enough to bargain with Mr. Shady may eventually discover that every promise has a price.
And when that price comes due, even the brightest light can be swallowed by the shadow.
Mr. Shady Comes to The Dent Schoolhouse
Mr. Shady will make his debut during the 2026 season of The Dent Schoolhouse in Cincinnati, Ohio, joining the cast as the attraction celebrates a major milestone: 30 Seasons of Screams.
Unlike many of the creatures waiting inside the schoolhouse, you won’t necessarily have to go looking for Mr. Shady.
He’ll be outside.
Waiting.
Guests may encounter him before entering The Dent Schoolhouse, where they’ll have the opportunity to meet—and perhaps interact with—the mysterious new character throughout the Halloween season.
Just be careful what you say to him.
Mr. Shady has a way of making bad ideas sound awfully tempting.
